Welcome to Lively Leaf Designs, my newest creative adventure.

 

The idea to try something new came through one of my biggest life changes, recently I became a full time stay at home mom! I love making jewellery but have had little time to get in the silversmithing studio. I needed a medium I could work with at home, even at the kitchen table with my little guys. While brainstorming ideas for alternative jewellery materials I discovered bicycle tire inner tube; it’s such an inspiring material. The black rubber is very durable, tactile, lightweight and safe to work with. I am excited that I can take something destined for the landfill and turn it into a unique statement of individuality or even a precious token of love.

 

My designs are influenced by the tension between the natural and manmade. The black rubber is edgy and industrial looking, a perfect contrast to the softness and feminity of white freshwater pearls. Each Lively Leaf piece is hand cut or manually die cut by me in my Calgary Alberta Canada studio, and hand assembled using stainless steel wire and chain.
